Christina

Christina - I can’t stop thinking about her. She is the 11 year old daughter of a colleague who has been diagnosed with cancer. Wow. I found this out a few weeks ago and can’t seem to stop thinking about her. I have seen her face on the walls of my colleague’s desk…I have heard stories about her at lunch. How? How does this happen? I have seen my colleague’s life change in a blink of an eye. Before the recent re-organization at work, we both stood strong in our research projects in finding a cure for this disease. We collaborated, we shared ideas, we made a difference in OTHER people’s lives. Now I have seen the difference it has made in her life.
When I am out on training rides for the PMC, I think about Christina. I think about how her body is responding to the chemotherapy and how sick she has become. I think of what I would do if my 11 year old daughter was diagnosed with cancer. I think about how frustrated I am that I will no longer have that opportunity to help people with this disease. It drives me forward like a magical tail wind. We have to keep moving forward to fund programs that can help Christina.
